I.                   Reading Comprehension

Answer the following questions below.

1.      Why does Tybalt want to fight Romeo? Why can¡¯t the two families fight anymore even though they hate each other?

Because Romeo went to the Capulet¡¯s party, (Romeo is theMontague¡¯s son)

And the prince of Verona said that there is law in the city

So the Montagues and Capulets can¡¯t fight.

2.      Why does Romeo have to leave Verona? Why is this situation a problem for Romeo and Juliet?

Tybalt was still furious with Romeo for ¡®breaking¡¯ into his party

After Romeo married with Juliet, Tybalt challenged Romeo into a duel.

But Romeo refused. Mercutio got mad when Tybalt insulted Montague.

They fought each other, and Tybal slained Mercutio. Romeo was furious with Tybalt for killing his friend Mercufio. Romeo and Tybalt fought too, and Romeo slained Tybalt.

When Benvolio learned that Juliet died, he galloped over to Mantua and told Romeo that Juliet died. He was so sad. He wept and wept. He thinks his live is nothing with Juliet gone.

So he promises to himself to drink the poison and die.

He went to the Capulet¡¯s tomb and minutes later, Juliet woke up.

She found Romeo at her side, dead.

She couldn¡¯t believe what she was seeing. Juliet was so sad too.

She wanted to die like Romeo, so she drew out Romeo¡¯s dagger and kill herself.

The story of Romeo and Juliet is regarded as one of the most tragic stories in classic literature. A tragedy is a literary genre that involves a sad ending such as death. Describe why you think this story is a tragedy. I want you all to be more creative than simply stating that Romeo and Juliet had both died.
