저도 이참에 묻어 갑니다.
봄이 오면 항상 제일 먼저 떠오르는 책 song of the swallows....
1950년 칼데콧 메달 수장작인데요.
흘러간 세월이 느껴지는 그림과 글이지만 잔잔하고 푸근한 느낌이 책을 덮어도 오래도록 남더군요.
좀 긴듯하지만 영어적인 면은 그닥 어렵지 않구요.
영어 동화이지만 스페인어(정확하지 않습니다 ㅠ.ㅠ 제 생각엔 스페인어 같아요)가 조금씩 나오고 글이며 그림이며 동양적인 냄새가 강합니다.
우리에게도 봄의 대명사는 강남 갔다 돌아오는 제비 였던 적이 있었지요.
시골에 가면 처마 밑에 자리잡은 제비 집을 흔하게 볼 수 있었는데...
요즘도 그런가요?
잘 모르겠네요.
암튼... 아이들은 시큰둥해 할지도 모르지만 엄마들이 읽으면 옛생각이 나면서 입가에 절로 미소가 번집니다.
책에 악보 2개가 나오는데 음악엔 문외한이 제가 마구마구 피아노를 배우고 싶어지더군요.
소개되어진 악보의 음이 어떤건지 느무느무 궁금합니다.
책 중에 소개 되어진 구절 올려볼게요.
딱 요즘에 해당하는 글 같아요.

The spring air is nice. 봄바람이 좋으네It has sprung from seed. 씨에서 싹이 텃네.Spring is the most pleasant of all seasons. 사계절중에서 봄이 제일 기분 좋단다.The leaves on the trees rustled in the spring breeze. 나뭇잎들이 봄바람에 살랑살랑 거린다.The fAallen leaves rustled in the spring breeze. 낙엽들이 봄바람에 살랑살랑 움직인다. 부족하지만 몇가지 표현 옮겨 보았습니다.어제 날씨가 너무 좋아 전 울 가은이 데리고 산책 나가 부지런히 표현들을 써봤네요^^잘 못하는 영어지만 어디든 아기를 데리고 다니면서 영어를 쓰는탓에 힐끔 보는 시선은 이젠 익숙하고 애들같은 경우는 우리 가은이가 외국애인지 앞으로 와서 보고 가곤 하죠특히나 애들은 그게 신기한가 봐요.. 가까이 모여들때도 가끔 있답니다. 이런일도 있었네요---->책대여점에서 가서 직접 책(엄마책)빌려보곤 하는데.. 애기에게 "여기는 책대여점이고 책을 빌려볼수 있단다. 가은이도 보고싶은 책있으면 골라보렴.. 등등)갈때마다 설명을 해줬더니, 하루는 대여점 주인에게서 전화가 왔네요혹시 영어를 전공하셨는지.. 친구랑 함께 내가 하는 영어를 쭉 들었다네요2,3학년 초등생 자녀들이 있는데.. 영어과외를 부탁했으면 한다고 하시길래..어찌나 당황스럽던지..^^애들은 자신들이 얼마든지 모아드릴수 있으니 꼭좀 부탁한다는 내용에너무나 모자라고 부족한 실력에 몸둘바 몰라했던 적이 있습니다. 그래도 한편으론 뿌듯 하기도 했답니다.. 그날 울신랑한테 꽤나 칭찬 들었죠..^^ 물론 하진 않았지만 앞으로 기회가 된다면 저역시 교편을 잡아 왔던 경험을 살려 영어교사프로그램에 등록해서 새로운 도전을 하고픈 욕심도 있네요..............^^가능할진 모르겠지만 그러한 꿈을 가지고 오늘도 가은이와 쏼라 쏼라~~
