Hey guys! It is Aaditya from Champaign, Illinois and I hope you have all had a great week! This week, for me, is important because it is the week of Diwali. Diwali is an Indian holiday which is like Christmas and New Year¡¯s, all in one day! The excitement I feel during Diwali is the same as that shared by the main character of Black Beauty, which is our book for the week.
Black Beauty follows a horse named Black Beauty from his days as a carefree young horse to an old adult. Along his journey of life, Beauty faces many challenges and lots of cruelty from his masters, though some of them are very kind to him. Eventually, Beauty is bought by two sisters who are kind to him and promise to never sell him. This is a happy ending well deserved by Beauty!
The assignment for this week is very similar to last week¡¯s; it has three simple steps.
1. The first step is to read Black Beauty. Try to read it at least two times, once out loud
and once in your head.
2. Next, fill out the worksheet we posted. The worksheet has five sections: vocabulary,
multiple choice, simple question, short answer, and creativity. Make sure to go back
to the book when finding some of the answers. The pictures may help you remember
what happened.
3. Take a picture of your worksheet and upload it.
This week, for the creative section, I want you guys to draw a picture of a new horse friend for Black Beauty, so that he does not get lonely at his new home! Make full use of your imagination for this to make Beauty¡¯s new friend interesting and not boring.
Make sure to have fun while filling out the worksheet and have a great week! Happy Diwali to all of you guys!
