저희집에는 children's dictionary 만 있답니다. 다만 제가 얼마전에 조카(2학년)에게 선물하기 위해서

Scholastic first dictionary를 좀 살펴봤답니다.

두 사전의 차이라면 Scholastic first dictionary가 단어를 훨씬 간단하게 설명 했다는 건데요, 예를 들어

bank-A bank is a place where people save their money. Sometimes children save money in a toy

        bank at home. 라고 되어 있는반면,  Children's dictionary에는

 bank-1.(noun) A place where people keep their money. Banks also lend money and offer other

          financial services. (noun)banker (verb)bank

        2.(noun) The land along the side of a river or a canal. ex)The banks of the river were steep.

        3.(noun) A place where something is collected and stored, as in a b;ppd bank.

        4. If you bank on something, you rely on it. ex)I'm banking on the weather being good    

           tomorrow.

라고 되어 있습니다. 훨씬 설명이 상세히 나와있고 예문도 나와 있는걸 보실수가 있을겁니다.

처음 영어를 접하는 아이라면 first dictionary가 맞겠지만 초등학고 4학년이라면 Children's dictionary

가 맞을것 같네요.

제가 알고 있는건 이두가지 사전뿐이라, 그외에도 다른 출판사에서 나온 사전이 많이 있으니 서점에 가셔서 비교해 보시고 고르시기 바래요. 참, YES24에서 확대 보기가 되니 잠깐 살펴보세요. Children's dictionary가 최근에 새로 개정판이 나온것 같네요. 전 옛날것 가지고 있습니다.
