1. What is the big issue going on in chapter 1? What did Tomie's mom say about it?

On Sunday, December 7, 1941, the Japanese attacked and destroyed the United States

Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor, on the island of Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands.

It was a surprise attack.

  Tomie’s mom said that things would never be the same.

2. Why did the school end early?

They made the kids go to home early to make the kids listen to president’s speak

with their families.

3. Why do you think the teacher did not tell Tomie what air raid is?

  I think they thought that Tomie would be scared. Maybe she didn’t want to frighten the kids.

4. What air raids are going around the world?

  Germans started the war. The Germans dropped the bombs on London every night.

And the Japanese were doing the same thing to China.  

5. Why do you think there were no cash registers in the store?

  They thought that there will be not many people that use the cash registers.

6. How was Christmas for Tomie? What did he do?

They went out and looked at peoples outfits and to watch Christmas decorasions.

And also they saw movies at the theater. And then the newsreel started.

It was like a war going there. And Tomie was afraid that would be his country.

중학생이 되니 시간이 타이트하네요.

벨라도 초등학교보다 중학공부가 더 재미있다고 해요.

이번 입학한 친구들 보니 모두 즐겁게 학교생활 하는것 같아서 다행이에요~

중딩이 되어 2주가 다되어 가네요.

초딩때보다 수업이 재밌다고 하네요.

담주부턴 방과후도 하고 좀 더 바빠질듯 하네요.

늦게나마 꾸준히 해서 다행이긴 한데 지각이 습관이 되서 참 ...

드뎌 6학년이 되어 일주일을 보냈는데 정신 못차리고 있네요...ㅎㅎ

친구가 좋을 때이긴 한데 노느라 계획대로 못해서 매일 밀리고 있습니다.

이번 주 미션은 좀 제 때에 하길~~

참 4번은 잘 모르겠다고 안했네요.

새담임쌤은 꼼꼼하고 엄격하신 분이라며 매일 긴장하며 지냅니다

1. What is the big issue going on in chapter 1? What did Tomie's mom say about it?

The big issue at chapter 1 is the Japanese attacked the United States Pacific fleet at Pearl Harbor.

On Sunday December, 7 , 1941. On the island of Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands.

Tommie’s mom say things that will never be the same as past.

2. Why dids school end early?

Because yesterday, that day had a terrible thing happened so Miss Gardner made an announcement to go right home to students(and don’t go PC rooms.)

That must be very horrifying the point is maybe they’ll be killed. Just imagining.

3. Why do you think the teacher did not tell Tomie what air raid is?

Because the teacher didn’t want to make scared the children.

We can know what she had said the children they don’t have to be frighten.

Then the students will be very horrifying.

That’s scary. If I was Tommie I’ll go straight to home and locked my door and sleep.

4. What air raids are going around the world?

Japan’s air raids are going all around the world.

Japan is having a Second World War.

And they attacked the Hawwain Islands ( I don’t think it’s a good idea. Cause USA is the best)

It’ll be horrifying because we can be destroyed by the Japan’s air raids.

5. Why do you think there were no cash registers in the store?

They didn’t need money. Cause cash registers didn’t receive a lots of money for a short time so they don’t need cash registers. And I think at that moment, they can never think of techniques.

6. How was Christmas for Tomie? What did he do?

It was not good as before book. He was horrifying because they were during the World War Two.

Tommie watched the move about war. And he felt more scared.

He can’t sleep at night because of the movie and the Japan’s world war.

He even had a dream destroyed.

중학생이 되니 더 타이트하고 바쁜 나날들을 보내게 되네요.

아직은 학교생활에 적응하는 단계지만, 빨리 익숙해져서

편안해졌음 좋겠어요~

안녕하세요 아직 중1의 현실감을 느끼지 못하고 있는 Edward입니다. 하....... 내가 중학생이라니....... 내가 중딩이라니! 의사양반 내가 중딩이라니!!!! 꺼이꺼이... 암튼 아직도 중학생이 실감히 되지가 않습니다. 에효.......

 The big issue was, as the book says, “On Sunday, December 7, 1941, the Japanese attacked and destroyed the United States Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor, on the island of Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands. It was a surprise attack.”

2. Why did school end early?

 The day before, at Pearl Harbor, something happened and everyone went home early.

3. Why do you think the teacher did not tell Tomie what air raid is?

 I think Tomie’s teacher didn’t want to frighten the children. We can know what she had said to the children they don’t have to be frighten.

4. What air raids are going around the world?

 Sorry but I don’t know the meaning of this question.

5. Why do you think there were no cash registers in the store?

 I think they didn’t need cash registers because they don’t receive a lots of money for a short time so they don’t need cash registers.

6. How was Christmas for Tomie? What did he do?

 Christmas was like a nightmare for Tomie. The war was happening on Christmas and Tomie hated that Christmas for many reasons. It was his worst nightmare.
