Horrible Science <killer energy>

1.Who is Julius Robert von Mayer? What did he find out about blood?(p18-19)

 Julius Robert von Mayer is a doctor who lived from 1814 to 1878 and his nationality is German. He discovered  body needs oxygen to live and blood carry oxygen.

2.What is a frostbite? What happened to Kim Hong Bin?(p54-55)

 Frostbite is a disease mostly happen the people who stay in cold area long time. Cold makes blood vessels shrink. Far place from your heart get less power and there are fewer oxygen. When that place doesn’t get much oxygen, it began to die.

3.Write how Watt steam engine works,(p85)

①  Energy stored in the form of coal. Coal burned to make heat energy.

②  Heat energy boils water to steam. Steam has movement energy.

③  Piston passes movement energy to wheel.

④  Drive belt transfers movement energy to machinery.

4.What does the word muscle mean in Latin? Why did the Romans call muscle like that?(p105)

The word “muscle” means “little mouse” in Latin.

Because the Romans thought that muscles looked like mice scampering about under the skin.

5. We only get very little of the sun's energy. What happens to the rest of the sun's energy that didn't come to Earth? (p136-137)

 When sun’s energy doesn’t come to Earth, Earth will be very cold. And plants can’t do photosynthesis and they will dead. And plants eaters will die because they can’t eat plants, their food. And meat eaters will die because they can’t eat plants eaters, their food. Food chain will be break and living thing in Earth will be gone.
