2009 봄 방학을 뉴욕에서-(2)센츄럴 파크

뉴욕에서의 이른 아침...우린, 센츄럴 파크로.....

Central Park was the first landscaped public park in the United States. Advocates of creating the park--primarily wealthy Skating in the Park merchants and landowners--admired the public grounds of London and Paris and urged that New York needed a comparable facility to establish its international reputation. A public park, they argued, would offer their own families an attractive setting for carriage rides and provide working-class New Yorkers with a healthy alternative to the saloon. After three years of debate over the park site and cost, in 1853 the state legislature authorized the City of New York to use the power of eminent domain to acquire more than 700 acres of land in the center of Manhattan.

쭉쭉 뻗은 빌딩이 뉴욕을 상징하고, 바쁘게 움직이는 사람들이 뉴욕을 가득 채우고 있었다. 그러는 와중에 크고 넓은 비싼 땅이 뉴욕인들에게 뉴욕을 찾는 사람들에게 또 다른 세상을 보여주는데 그곳이 바로 센츄럴 파크이다. 우리 아이들에겐 나홀로 집에2에 나오는 영화 배경으로 익숙한 곳. 워낙 산책을 좋아하니 둘쨋날은 아예 아침부터 공원을 휘젓기로 작정을 하고 출발~

워낙 넓어서 한번에 볼 수도 한 바퀴를 돌아 볼수도 없는 겨울이라 다소 쌀쌀 했지만 그래도 그나름 좋은 향기가 났습니다. 아이들은 아침 마다 걷자고 했습니다. 두 차례 더 공원에 갔었고 아이들이 뛰어 가는대로 따라 다녔고 무작정 걸었습니다. 뉴욕에 걸으려고 왔노라...라며서요^*^

아이들이 좋아한 장소. 폭신폭신 어찌나 좋은지...^*^

남편이 가장 부러워 한 장소. 담엔 낚시 도구를 들고 올것만 같음...ㅎㅎ

뉴욕에 나도...있다네...ㅎㅎ
