Chang Uc Chin’s young life Chang Uc Chin was born at 1917,11,26. His father died when he was seven years old.He lived with his mother, brother and his scary aunt. He liked to draw and paint since he get in to school. He especially liked to draw magpie. But, he was not very good at drawing. On, 1926, Uc Chin go in for ‘National children art competition’. He got the first prize. Uc Chin was very surprised. He didn’t send his picture, his new Japanese art teacher send it. Uc Chin was removed from school. He was intent in drawing. Then, his scary aunt apperd. The aunt strongly hit Uc Chin. Uc Chin was crying and he was drawing with his feet. He was good at exercise, so, he got a award. Then he could start school, again. He go in for art competition, again. “He fot first award. He bought silk for his aunt. He used his prize money. This made aunt’s mind. The aunt let Uc Chin go study abroad to Japan. Uc Chin’s Family Chang Uc Chin married with Sun-Kyung-Lee. Uc Chin was 3years older than his wife. Chang Uc Chin had two sons and four daughters. It’s little sad. There was first son. But, he died. So, Uc Chin’s first daughter Kyung-Soo-Chang. Kyung-Soo said his dad Uc Chin loved her most. Uc Chin had a job Uc Chin married with Sun-Kyung-Lee. Then Uc Chin finished university. Uc Chin works in National Museum. But, he only thought about drawing. So, he quit his work. With Jung-Sub-Lee, etc.. Uc Chin come in ‘Sinsasilpa’ meeting. He drew in that meeting. Uc Chin become Seoul university art professor. He didn’t want to say ‘go this way, don’t paint in this way.’ He only made his student freely. He didn’t like his job much, so, he quit his professor job. Then, he didn’t know what to do. He wandered and drank alcohol everyday. So, his wife made Uc Chin’s new studio in deokso. Then he can draw freely. He usually, drew his family and him. He drew hard in deokso. New Studio He leave deokso studio and came to his house, Myung Run Dong, Seoul. But, he didn’t like Myung Run Dong anymore. So, he choose SuAnBo. Now, SuAnBo is his new studio. In SuAnBo, he drew in india milk. He liked to draw in india milk. That was his new ways to draw. He drew in india milk. But, it feels like ink and wash painting. Uc Chin liked to draw Sun and Moon. Art Forever Uc Chin loved art. He drew and drew until he died. He liked to draw nature, peoples. He promised ‘I have to effort much to draw and make p***e of art.’ (by himself) His body was old. But, he effort for one p***e of art. He always said ‘I am simple’. Like his word, his pictures are simple, too. He died on 1990, 12, 27. My favorite picture My favorite picture is <나무와 새>. <나무와 새> is one of Uc Chin’s major work. But, that’s not reason I like this picture. I like this picture best. Because, this picture is most simple picture. This picture is best describe picture. Uc Chin drew tree in strange way. The house is on the tree! It’s strange. I like this picture, because it don’t have secret. But, I feel it have secret. His pictures makes me think ‘That picture is easy! I can draw it.’ But, if I hold pencil, it feels so hard. I picked Uc Chin Chang. Because, I admire him. I like him, too. Because, his picture is simple. When I see Uc Chin’s picture, I can feel strange feel. He had passion in art. Uc Chin liked alcohol. I thought nice artist didn’t eat alcohol. But, my thought was wrong. Everyone can smoke and drink alcohol. Uc Chin I like you~~ I went to Hyundai Gallery <장욱진 20주기 회고전>. This helped me. I decide that my favorite picture is <나무와 새> It was fun. I felt Uc Chin Chang is great. If I met Uc Chin, I want to ask 5 things 1. When you drink alcohol, did it helped you? 2. 2. Why did you said ‘I am simple.’? 3. 3.Why did you like to draw magpie? 4. 4.How was your feelings when your scary aunt scold you? 5. 5. How can you draw more than 700 pices?
