Answer 1 : Talkingabout some subject other than the cause for embarrassment will let the person forget about it. And it has a bonus of making the other person avoid the subject as well.

Answer 2 : Lying is a way of mixing things up and making it worse. Gossip travels faster than we can run, and the wrong sort of talk could end in 'Chaos'. Also, lying to someone makes that person unable to believe in you even when you are telling the truth.
