지난 번 활동이 이론편이었다면 이번 활동은 실전에 가깝네요.

밖으로 나가야 한답니다.

1. 우리 동네에는 뭐가 있을까요?

이번에는 까이유 사이트를 좀 활용해 보겠습니다.

The Neighborhood Hunt

시내에 장보러 나가거나 산책할 때 이 워크시트를 준비해 보세요.

아이의 관찰력이 쑥쑥 올라간답니다.

- Let's go for a neighborhood hunt. 동네 찾기 놀이 하러 나갈까.

- Here, have you ever seen these items before?

여기 있는 거 언제 본 적 있니?

- We're gonna take a walk around an hour. 한 시간 정도 산책을 할 거야.

- See if we can find these things in our neighborhood.

이것들을 동네에서 찾을 수 있나 보자.

그림들을 읽어 주세요.

- If you've found something on the list,

then draw a circle around 'yes' next to it.

이 중에 뭐 찾으면 옆에 있는 yes에다 동그라미 쳐.

- Or draw a circle around 'no.' Got it? 못 찾겠으면 no에 치고. 알겠니?

2. 안전 수칙

밖에 나갈 때는 항상 차조심해야 되겠죠?

도로 안전에 관해 잔소리(?)를 좀 해 볼까요?

First look left, and then right when crossing a street.

길을 건널 때는 처음엔 왼쪽, 다음에는 오른쪽을 봐.

Make eye contact with drivers prior to crossing in front of them.

차 앞으로 지나갈 때 운전자와 눈을 마주쳐야 해.

Don't assume that because you can see the driver,

the driver can see you.

네가 운전자를 볼 수 있다고 운전자도 너를 볼 수 있다고 생각하지 말고.

Always make sure that the driver is looking at you.

운전자가 너를 보고 있는지 항상 확인해.

Never run into the street. 차도로 뛰어들지 마.

Don't play or run in parking lots. 주차장에서는 뛰거나 놀지마.

Don't play at the back of a big truck. 큰 트럭 뒤에서 놀면 안 돼.

Drivers can't see you. 운전자가 너를 못 봐.

이슬이와 다닐 때 가장 위험하다고 생각하는 것들을 좀 골라 봤습니다.

엄마와 같이 다닐 때는 항상 방심을 하고 뛰어 다니지요.

표현이 어렵다고 넘어가지 마시고 꾸준히 말해 주세요.

아이들이 울매나 눈치가 좋은지, 자기가 의미를 알 것 같은 말을 영어로 들었을 때 기억을 잘 한답니다. 오히려 나중에는 엄마는 까먹었는데 아덜만 기억하는 경우도 생겨서 허거덩 할 때가 있지요. ^^

모처럼 오랫만에 만나는 자리이니 활동에 쓸 사진을 왕창 찍어 오시라는 말씀 드리면서,

가족에 관한 동시 몇 편을 모아 보았습니다. Wee Sing에도 있는 것들입니다만...

Family Items

These are Mother's knives and forks
interlock as in praying fingers and lift them slightly
And this is our dining table
lower fingers keeping them interlocked, straighten wrist to form a flat surface
This is Sister's looking glass
form a circle by touching thumbs and index finger
And this is the baby's cradle
cup hands together to form cradle.

Grandmother's Glasses

These are Grandmother's glasses
make circles around each eye with fingers
This is Grandmother's cap
hold fingers interlocked over head
This is the way she folds her hands
fold hands
And lays them in her lap
lay hands in lap.
