"영어 문법"을 아주 이해하기 쉽게 정리한것 올려드립니다. 첨부로 영어문법 100계명 한글 파일 올려드리구요~ 아래는 그중에서 ~ 50입니다. 천천히 시간을 두고 보시면 도움이 되실듯하여~~ 저역시 요런 자료들로 공부하여 완전 무장하믄 좋을텐데 늘 마음만 가득하여 한번보고는 뒤에 봐야지 하는게 그것이 기약이 없습니다..ㅠㅠ ..........................."영어로 수학용어 정복하기?? 영어 문법 100 계명
1. 동사의 동작의 주체(의상의 주어)가 문맥상 맞는가하는 문제가 영어 어법문제에서 가장 중요시하게 취급되는 것들 중에 하나이다. 즉 능동과 피동의 관계가 제대로 맞느냐하는 문제다.
a. Admitted what you say, I still don’t believe it.(X)
b. Comparing with other organs in the body, the brain has complexity and beauty.(X)
c. In tropical Asia it has cultivated for more than 3,000 years. (X)
a의 admitted를 admitting으로, b는 compared로 c는 has been cultivated로 고친다.
2. and, or, but 다음에는 구조가 동일한 것이 좌우로 연결되어야 한다. 즉 앞에 동명사 구조가 오면 and, or, but 다음에는 동명사 구조가. 부정사 구조면 뒤에 부정사 구조가 와야한다.(평행구조)
. The policeman told us to drive very slowly and that we should not put on our high beams. (X) (high beam; 원거리용 헤드라이트)
. The policeman told us to drive very slowly and not to put on our high beams. (O)
. Dancing to jazz music is almost as exciting to me as to race motorcycles. (X)

3. to가 전치사로 쓰였을 때 to 다음에는 목적격이 와야하므로 명사나 동명사가 온다.
. I look forward to hear from you.(X) (→hearing)
. Do you object to go on a picnic? (X) (→going)
. Bonny went to Paris with a view to study art. (X) (→studying)
. He is used to be made fun of. (X) (→being)
. What do you say to take a walk in the park. (X) (→ taking)(..하는게 어때)
4. remember, forget, try, stop, hate, want는 동명사가 목적어로 오느냐, 부정사가 목적어로 오느냐에 따라 의미가 달라진다.
. The farmer tried to grow potatoes. (..하려고 애쓰다)
. The farmer tried growing potatoes. (시험 삼아 해보다)
. I like to play tennis. (현재의 심정)
. I like playing tennis. (일반성-나는 테니스를 좋아한다)
. I forgot to post cards. (카드 부친다는 게 잊어버렸네)
. I forget posting cards. ((내 정신 좀 봐)카드 부친 것을 잊었네)
. want + to-do (능동의 의미), want + doing (수동의 의미)
. stop + doing (..하는 것을 멈추다), stop + to-do (..하기 위해 멈추다)
5. 주어와 동사의 수는 일치하여야 한다. 단수 주어가 오면 단수 동사를, 복수 주어는 복수 동사가 와야 한다.
. The fact that someone is interested enough to give help to poor villagers often work wonders. (X) (The fact가 단수이므로 work가 works가 되어야 한다)
. Every man and woman have freedom of speech. (X) (have→has; every와 each가 들어가면 단수 취급한다)
. More than one student are suffering from nervous breakdown. (X) (are→is; more than one은 단수 취급한다)
. There seem to be some doubt about it. (X) (seem→seems)
. Many a student have seen it. (X) (have→has; many a +단수+ 단수동사)
. Either the son or his parents is to blame for it. (X) (is→are; either A or B는 B에 인칭과 수를 일치시킨다)
. not only A but B : B에 일치시킨다.
. A as well as B : A에 일치시킨다
6. must have pp와 should have pp의 의미를 구분해야 한다. 전자는 ’..했었음에 틀림없다’이고 후자는 ’...했었어야 했는데(못 했다)’라는 의미이다.
① At a famous restaurant I was once served food so old that it had gone bad. ② I could smell the rotten meat before the waiter put it on my table. ③ Foolishly, I screamed insults at the waiter who brought those dishes. ④ Directly after that, however, I realized that it wasn’t the waiter’s fault. ⑤ I must have screamed those abuses at the man who was working in the cooking place.
⑤가 틀린 문장이다 : must have screamed를 should have screamed로 고쳐야 한다.
7. 시간을 나타내는 전치사 ’...까지’의 by와 until의 차이점에 유의해야 한다. until은 ’...까지 계속’이라는 의미로 지속의 의미를 갖는 동사와 호응한다.
We are busy because the teacher said we must finish our homework until next Friday. (X)
finish는 일회성의 의미를 갖는 동사이므로 by와 함께 쓴다.
8. 종속절의 주어 동사는 그 주어가 주절의 주어와 같고 be동사 있을 때만 ’S + be동사’가 생략될 수 있다.
Everyone told me that when I turned fifteen some great internal change would occur. I truly expected it to occur, but nothing happened. When I asked my grandmother, however, I replied, "Yes, I do feel a great change has taken place."
when I asked (X) → when (I was) asked(O)
9. 수동과 능동의 의미에 항상 유의하라.
. This year the numbers expect to show a rapid decline. (X)
. This year the numbers are expected to show a rapid decline.
10. 가정법의 문제는 중요하게 취급한다. 가정법 과거와 가정법 과거완료를 알아두어야 한다. 가정법 과거의 구조는 "If S’ + 과거동사(were), S +would/could/should/might +원형동사"이고 현재 사실의 반대를 나타내며, 가정법 과거 완료의 구조는 "If S’+had pp, S+would/should/could/might + have pp"이다. 내용은 과거 사실의 반대이다.
. If I were a member of Xpert, I would do better than Mr. Kim. (현재 사실의 반대)
. If he had helped me, I could have done it. (고거 사실의 반대) 11. 내용에 따라 결정되는 가정법 시제는 조건절은 가정법 과거 완료의 구조가 오고, 주절은 가정법 과거의 구조가 오고, 과거의 일의 결과가 현재에 미치는 경우에 대한 가정이다.
. If he had not saved me then, I should not be alive. (그 때 그가 나를 구해주지 않았더라면, 나는 지금 살아 있지 않을텐데.)
12. the number of는 단수 동사와 호응하고, a number of는 복수 동사와 호응한다.
. The number of students in our university are increasing with the years. (X)
. the number가 주어이고 number는 단수이므로 are→is로 고친다.
13. 사람이 주어가 되었을 때 excited, interested, tired, satisfied를 쓰고, 사물이 주어가 되었을 때는 exciting, interesting, tiring, satisfying을 쓴다.
. The game was much excited. (X)
. The game was very interesting. (O)
. I am very interesting in this novel. (X)
. I am very interested in this novel. (O)
14. 고유명사 앞에 관사를 붙이거나 고유명사를 복수로 하면 작품, 일가, 부부의 의미를 가지며 문맥에 의하여 결정된다.
This museum owns a Renoir and two Goghs.
15. clothes, sweets (사탕), savings (저금), wages (임금) 등은 복수 동사를 취하지만 이들을 수식하는 수사는 many, few가 아니라 much, little이며 clothes는 다 쓸 수 있다.
16. 다음 명사는 언제나 복수형이지만 단수 동사를 쓴다. : electronics (전자공학), gymnastics (체조), news, genetics (유전학), United States, genetics (유전학), linguistics (언어학)
17. 두 사람이 같이 소유하는 것은 and의 양쪽에 있는 명사 중 뒤에 있는 것에 -’s를 붙인다.
Tom and Mary’s home (Tom과 Mary가 같이 살거나 소유하는 집)
18. 두 사람이 개별적으로 소유하는 것은 두 개의 명사에 모두 소유격 -’s를 붙인다.
. Tom’s and Mary’s home (각각의 집)
19. 대명사가 어느 것을 가리키는지 분명하지 않으면 잘못된 것이다.
. Jill told Nancy she should take some vitamins. (X)
. Jill told Nancy to take some vitamins. (O)
20. it’s는 소유격이 아니라 it is 나 it has를 줄인 것이고 its가 소유격이다.
21. 인칭대명사와 다른 명사를 같이 쓰면 인칭대명사는 끝에 둔다.
. Paul gave the books to Joy and him.
. The waiter and she argued over the clerk.
. The boat belongs to Sam and me.
22. 재귀 대명사(-self)는 동일 문장에서 주어를 다시 언급할 때 쓴다.
. The engineer burned himself. (화상을 입었다)
. Various animals have shells that keep themselves from growing beyond a certain size.(X)
* themselves → them; themselves는 shells를 나타내므로, 의미적으로 곤란함.
23. 강조하기 위해 재귀 대명사를 쓸 수 있다.
. she herself repaired the computer.
24. 재귀 대명사는 주어로 쓰이지 않는다.
. Carol and myself are writing a novel. (X)
. Carol and I are writing a novel. (O)
25. 관계대명사 as와 which는 앞 문장을 선행사로 받을 수 있다.
. They visited him, which filled him with gratitude.
(그들은 그를 초대했는데, 그것은 그를 감사한 마음으로 꽉 차게 했다)
. He was a foreigner, as I knew from his accent.
. He was in need of money, as was often the case with him.
(그는 돈이 궁했는데, 그런 일은 그에게 흔히 있는 일이었다)
26. 대명사는 가리키는 명사의 수와 성을 따른다.
. The girl rode her bike.
. The boys rode their bikes. 27. 집합명사로 쓰면 단수 대명사, 군집명사로 쓰며 복수 대명사가 온다.
. the team lost its sixth game in a row.
. the team complained about their loose jerseys. (헐거운 운동복)
28. and로 연결된 두 명사는 복수 대명사를 취한다.
. Paul and Zinie mowed their lawn. 29. or와 nor는 뒤에 있는 말의 수의 따라 대명사의 수를 정한다.
. Neither Paula nor Tillie mowed her lawn.
. Neither the players nor the coach knows his salary yet.
. Neither the coach nor the players know their salaries yet.
30. 다음 대명사는 항상 단수 구문이다.
. another, everybody, nobody, anybody, everyone, no one
. anything, everything, nothing
. each, neither someone, either, one, something
. A number of 복수 + 복수동사 : A number of people were present.
. Numbers of 복수 + 복수동사 : Numbers of people were present.
. The number of 복수 + 단수동사 : The number of people invited was small. 31. 다음의 대명사는 항상 복수구문이다.
. both, many, few, several
32. 다음은 의미상 복수의 뜻이면 복수 구문이고, 단수를 나타내면 단수구문이다.
. all, any, none, some

33. 관계 대명사는 선행사의 수에 따라 동사의 수가 정해진다.
. She is the pilot who flies for Eastern Airlines.
. The teacher is punishing the students who always come late.
34.any가 붙은 대명사는 의문문과 부정문에 쓰이며, some이 붙은 것은 긍정문에 쓰인다.
. There is something about her smile that makes me laugh.
. She didn’t take any money with her.

35. 다음 동사의 활용에 유의하라.
. lie - lay - lain (놓여있다, 누워있다) . lie - lied - lied (거짓말 하다)
. lay - laid - laid (놓다) . bid - bade - bidden, bid (명하다)
. bid - bid - bidden, bid (입찰하다) . fly - flew - flown (날다)
. fly - fled - fled (도망가다) . fly -flied - flied (플라이를 치다)
. shine - shone - shone (빛나다) . shine - shined - shined (윤내다)
. fall - fell - fallen (넘어지다) . fell - felled - felled (넘어뜨리다)
. find - found - found (발견하다) . found - founded - founded (설립하다)
. wind - wound - wound (감다, 굽이치다) . wound - wounded - wounded (상처를 입히다)
36. appear, seem, be, become, remain 등의 뒤에는 보어(형용사, 명사, 분사)가 온다.
37. feel, sound (들리다), taste (맛나다), smell (냄새나다), look (보이다) 다음에는 형용사가 보어로 온다. 38. 명령문은 주어 없이 동사원형으로 시작되며, 부정 명령형은 동사원형 앞에 Don’t를 붙인다.
Don’t be afraid of taking the exam.
39. It is 뒤에 논리적으로 판단한 결과(natural, necessary, important)나 감정을 나타내는 말이 있으면 that절에는 should나 동사원형을 쓴다.
It is important that he exercise every day.
40. if 절에 현재를 쓰면 주절에는 미래의 조동사를 쓰고 현재, 미래의 추측을 나타낸다.
. If you hurry, you will be there on time. 41. if 절에 과거(be동사는 were)를 쓰고 주절에 조동사 과거를 쓰면 현재 사실의 반대를 나타내는 가정법 과거이다.
. If I had the time, I would take a vacation.
. If she were here, she could show you the way.
42. if 절에 had+ p.p (또는 could have + p.p)가 있으면 주절에는 "조동사 과거 + have + p.p"가 오며 과거 사실의 반대를 나타낸다.
. If I had followed the directions carefully, this cake would have been delicious.
. If I had had the time, I’d have taken a vacation.
43. wish 다음에 과거 문장(be는 were)이 오면 wish 와 같은 시간의 반대 상황이고, 과거완료가 오면 wish보다 한 time 앞선 시간의 반대상황을 나타낸다.
. I wish I were a bird. (내가 지금 새라면 좋을텐데)
. I wish I had been a bird. (내가 그때 새였더라면 지금 좋을텐데)
. I wished I were a bird. (내가 그때 새였더라면 그때 좋았을텐데)
. I wished I had been a bird. (내가 그때 새였었었더라면(?) 좋았을텐네 -- 우리말에 없는 것이라 이렇게 밖에 표현할 수 없습니다.)
44. until, when, before, after, if, unless, while, as long as, by the time 다음에 현재시제 서서 미래를 나타낸다.
. We won’t go unless they invite us.
. They won’t leave as long as we are here.
45. 시간과 조건의 부사절에서는 현재가 미래를 나타내지만 그 이외의 절에서는 미래를 will, shall로 나타낸다.
. I will consult with him when he returns.
. I will ask him when he will return.
46. will you....?는 ’부탁, 권유’를 나타내고, ’Won’t you ...?’는 권유를 나타낸다.
. Will you show me the way o the station? (부탁)
. Won’t you go camping with us? (권유)
47. 두 개의 과거 중 먼저 일어난 것은 과거완료(대과거) 구문으로 하지만 일어난 순서대로 말하면 과거만 쓴다.
. He gave me a novel, but I lost it.
. I lost the novel which he had given me. 48. hope, expect, suppose, intend, mean(의도하다)에 완료 부정사(to+have+pp)를 붙이거나 과거 완료형에 단순 부정사를 붙이면 이루어지지 못한 것을 말한다.
. He hoped to have met her.
. He hoped to meet her in vain.
. He hoped to meet her, but he couldn’t.
49. 의문문에 대한 답을 할 때 do를 쓰면 동사+목적어를 모두 나타나게 되는 것이 되고 의문문의 동사를 그대로 쓰면 목적어까지 써야된다.
. Did you tell the truth?
- Yes, he did. (O)
- Yes, he told. (X)
- Yes, he told the truth. (O)
50. cannot ... too는 "아무리 ... 해도 괜찮다"인데 too를 쓰지 않고 접두어 over-가 있는 동사를 써도 된다.
. You cannot overpraise her conduct. (너는 그녀의 행동을 아무리 칭찬해도 괜찮다.)
