Tom Thumb 엄지손가락 톰 《영국 동화에 나오는 엄지만한 주인공》

이야기 입니다.~^^*

Once a farmer and his wife wanted a son. 한 농부와 부인이 아들을 가지고 싶었답니다

Even one as small as a thumb! 그아들이 엄지만 하더라도말이죠

A magician heard them. 마술사가 그들이 말하는걸 들었죠.
He cast a spell...and Tom appearad! 그리고 마법사가 마법을 걸었답니다.
and Tom appearad! 그리고 그 부부에게 톰이 생겨낫죠

Tom was as small as a thumb! So they called him Tom Thumb!
톰은 엄지손가락만햇죠 ㅎㅎㅎ 그래서 부부는 그아이를 Tom Thumb 라고 부르기로 햇어요

Tom went everywhere.톰은 어디든지 갔죠
One day he jumped into a cake! 어느날 톰은 케잌 안으로 점프했어요
"Don't eat me!" he said. 날 먹지마

Once a bird got Tom and dropped him into the lake. 새한마리가 톰을 잡아서 호수에 떨궜어요
Tom started to swim...톰은 수영을 하기 시작햇죠
A big Fish' ate him! 큰 고기한마리가 톰을 잡아 먹었어요
quickly, Tom's father caught the fish and took it home.
얼른 톰의 아빠가 물고기를 잡아서 집에 가져왔어요
"Oh, Tom, you're fine!" his mother said when she opened the fish.
톰아 괜찮니?-물고기 배를 가르면서 톰의엄마가 말했어요

"I was scared!" 무서워써요 ㅠㅠ

One day, Tom was working with the horse.
어느날 톰이 말이랑 놀고있었어요
"Go right," he whispered...오른쪾으로가 (톰이 속삭엿어요)
"Go right,"...오른쪽으로 가
"Stop!"

Two bad men got Tom and the horse.두나쁜남자가 톰이랑 말을 잡았어요

"You can work for us!" they said.흐흐흐 우리가 시키는데로 해라
"Go into this rich man's house and get his money." Tom was scared.
부잣집에 가서 돈을 가져와라 ..톰은 무서웠어요
Tom whispered. "Go left,"...톰이 속삭였죠 왼쪾으로가
"Right,"..."Stop!"오른쪾으로가...멈춰

and took the bad men to the police station! 그리고 두나쁜놈들 경찰소에 데려갔어요
"What a clever little boy!" said the policer. "Well done!"
똑똑한 꼬마구나 (경찰이 말했죠). 잘했다!
Tom went to see the king and queen.
톰은 왕과 여왕을 보러 갔어요
"Well done, Tom," they said. 잘했다 톰 (왕과 여왕이 말했어요)

Tom quickly went to his house.톰은 집에 빨리돌아왔어요

"I'm here!" he said. 나 여깄어요 톰이 말했어요

His mother and father were very happy. 톰의 엄마와 아빠는 매우 행복했답니다.

스토리~~

옛날에 작은 강아지와 함께 사는 할머니가 있었습니다.
할머니 이름은... Old Mother Hubbard. One day, Old Mother Hubbard went to the cupboard,
to get her dog a bone.

어느날, 할머니는 개에게 뼈다귀를 주기위해 찬장에 갔지요.
But when she got there,
the cupboard was bare(empty).
And so the poor dog had none.

그러나 찬장에 가보니, 찬장이 텅 비어 있지 않겠어요.
그래서 가엾은 개는 아무것도 못 먹었답니다.

Old Mother Hubbard
Went to the cupboard,
To get her poor dog a bone;
But when she got there
The cupboard was bare
And so the poor dog had none.
할머니는 찬장에 갔어요
강아지에게 뼈다귀를 주기 위해서요.
그러나 그곳에 가보니
찬장은 텅 비어 있었지요.
그래서 가엾은 강아지는 아무것도 먹을 수가 없었답니다.

Oh, poor dog!
오, 가엾은 강아지!
배고픈 강아지를 위해 할머니는 어떻게 하셨을까요?
......................
So Old Mother Hubbard went to the market to buy some food
to fill the cupboard.
그래서 할머니는 찬장을 채울 음식을 사기위해 장에 갔답니다.

To market, to market
to buy a(an) apple,
Home again, home again,
La, la, la, la!!!
장에 가네, 장에 가네.
사과를 사러..
집에 가요, 집에 가요
랄랄랄랄.....

Old Mother Hubbard went to the market,
and she bought some apples.
Then she put some apples in the cupboard.
할머니는 장에가서 사과를 사오셨어요.
그리고는 사과를 찬장에 넣어 두셨지요.

Look!
The cupboard is not bare(empty).
The cupboard is full of food.
보세요!
찬장은 이제 텅 비어 있지 않군요.
음식으로 가득 찼지요.

Old Mother Hubbard went to the cupboard
to get her poor dog a(an) apple.
And the poor dog ate the apple.
So the dog was very very happy.
그래서 할머니는 사랑하는 개에게 맛있는 음식(사과)을
주기위해 찬장으로 갔습니다.
강아지는 그 사과를 먹고 매우 매우 행복했지요.

Bo-Peep(역시 마더구즈 입니다.)

Little Bo-Peep has lost her sheep

Little Bo-Peep has lost her sheep,
And can't tell where to find them;
Leave them alone, and they'll come home,
And bring their tails behind them.

Little Bo-Peep fell fast asleep,
And dreamt she heard them bleating;
But when she awoke, she found it a joke,
For still they all were fleeting.

Then up she took her little crook,
Determined for to find them;
She, found them indeed, but it made her heart bleed,
For they'd left all their tails behind 'em!

It happened one day, as Bo-peep did stray
Unto a meadow hard by--
There she espied their tails, side by side,
All hung on a tree to dry.

She heaved a sigh and wiped her eye,
And over the hillocks she raced;
And tried what she could, as a shepherdess should,
That each tail should be properly placed.

꼬마 보 핍은 양을 잃어버렸네.
양이 어디에 있는지 알 수 없다네.
내버려두면 돌아오겠지,
꼬리가 달린채 돌아오겠지.

꼬마 보 핍은 깊은 잠에 들었네.
꿈에서 양이 우는 소리를 들었지.
하지만 잠에서 깨었을 때 그게 꿈이라는 걸 알았지.
여전히 양들은 돌아오지 않았으니까.

그녀는 작은 망토를 꼭 쥐고서
양을 찾기로 결심을 했지.
마침내 양을 찾게 되었지만 마음이 몹시 아팠네.
양 꼬리가 전부 사라졌기 때문이었지.

보 핍이 양 꼬리를 찾아 들판을 아주 힘들게
찾아 헤메던 어느 날
말릴려고 나란히 나무 위에걸려 있는
양 꼬리를 보았네.

그녀는 한숨을 내쉬고 눈을 훔친 다음
그 언덕위로 뛰어 올라갔네.
그녀는 꼬리를 제자리에 돌려 두기 위해서
양치기 소녀로서 할 수 있는 노력은 다했네.

Jack and Jill went up the hill

Jack and Jill went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water;
Jack fell down and broke his crown,
And Jill came tumbling after

Up Jack got, and home did trot,
As fast as he could caper,
To old Dame Dob, who patched his nob
With vinegar and brown paper.

When Jill came in, how she did grin,
To see Jack's paper plaster;
Dame Dob, vexed, did whip her next
For causing Jack's disaster.

물 한 통을 길러
잭과 질이 언덕위로 올라갔네.
잭이 아래로 떨어져 왕관이 깨어졌고
질도 따라 굴러 내려왔네.

잭은 일어나 집으로 총총히
서둘러 갔고
늙은 돕부인은 잭에 코에다 붙였네,
식초바른 갈색종이를.

집에 들어온 질은 인상을 찌푸렸지,
잭이 종이 반창고를 바른 것을 보더니.
화가 난 돕부인은 질을 때렸지,
잭을 그렇게 만들었다고.
